Matthew A. Feldman

Matthew A. Feldman is a supervising attorney with the Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project (PILP). His docket includes cases challenging solitary confinement, inadequate medical care, physical abuse by prison staff, and inhumane conditions of confinement. He has tried two federal jury trials, securing favorable verdicts for PILP’s clients in both. He first joined PILP as a law student extern in 2016 and returned as an attorney in 2018. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2018, where he received the Lipman Redman Prize for the best first-year brief. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Eve Biskind Klothen Pro Bono Distinction Award from the Philadelphia Bar Association in recognition of his volunteer work in law school, including with the Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project. Prior to attending law school, he ran an award-winning food truck, worked as an elementary school teacher, and volunteered with the ACLU of Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor’s degree in linguistics from Swarthmore College and a Master’s degree in elementary education from Temple University.
